CHURCH NEWS FOR JUNE 2009

Fr. Davidson
Fr. Davidson will ve away after the June 21st service. He will be back for the July 5th service


New Church Chairs
On Sunday, June 28th we sat in our new chairs for the first time. As we worship in our beautiful, comfortable chairs, we must remember and give thanks for our many blessings.

Independence Day, USA
On Sunday, July 5th we will celebrate the independence of The United States of America. We hope our American born members will share information and stories with us. We also hope they will be responsible for Coffee Hour.

Mr. and Mrs. Barnaby
Congratulation to Mr. and Mrs. Barnaby on the birth of their first grandchild. Morgan Nicole Barnaby was born Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. Morgan weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Condolences
Irma Reid was buries about two weeks ago. Nigel Cromwell, the son of Lorraine Mapp and the stepson of Tony Mapp was buried Wednesday, June 17th. Gwendolyn Sangster, a former member of the Chancel Choir, was buried Saturday, June 20th, and the Rhule family lost two loved ones during the week of June 14th, Evelyn Rhule's brother and her brother in law. To all those who mourn we assure you of our sincere prayers and continued support.

Continued Prayers
Please pray in a special way for Carolyn Jackson, Isabella Brown and their families.

Nathaniel Baker
Nathaniel Baker is our new Organist/Pianist and Music Director. He has eleven years experience as a church organist. Nathaniel has performed throughout New England and in Spain and Portugal. During his high school years he won numerous local competitions and he has accompanied various local musical theatre productions. Presently, Nathaniel studies Piano Performance and Music Theory at the Hartt School, University of Hartford.

Annual Parish Picnic
The Annual Church Picnic will be held Sunday, July 19th at St. Monica's Church. Bring your family and friends. There will be lots of fun, fellowship, food, refreshments and games. Additional information will follow.

Reach Out Program and Food Pantry
The Reach out Program (Saturday Feeding Program) and the Food Pantry (Wednesday and Fridays 10-12 noon) will begin again at St. Monica's. Volunteers are need for both programs. There will be a food Ministry meeting on Thursday, june 25th at 6:00 p.m. at the Parish Hall to discuss Plans. If you would like to volunteer, contact Patricia Nelson.

Walk Against Hunger
St. Monica's earned $3,806.40 for the Walk Against Hunger. Denzil Ricketts and Jeremy Ifill were the two largest fund raisers.

Parking Lot
The vestry has erected chains to prevent unauthorized cars from entering the parking lot after hours. The Junior Warden will issues keys for the locks.

  1. Looks good. Had a blogging exercise via work a year or more ago, but couldn't keep up between work and home e-mails and now FB. Should have known a retired librarian would get us here. Will be interested in seeing if this works better for StM folks than the "conventional" methods of communication used at present. One suggestion: can the Episcopal Church logo be moved so the word "Saint" can be seen in the title? Hasta luego.
