From The Rector's Desk
I was fortunate to attend a retreat in the Diocese of Long Island 17 years ago led by Kenneth Leech, the famous Anglican writer whose book I had to study in my Pastoral Care class. I remember him looking over his glasses and saying with some directness to us, "Gentlemen there will come a time in ministry when you will tire your parishioners out and you must be honest enough to leave."
Last Sunday (June 6, 2014) I gave notice to the Wardens and members of St. Monica's vestry of my intentions to resign as rector of St. Monica's as of July 31, 2014. My last Sunday will be July 27, 2014, God being my helper. Seventy-eight months is a long time for me in any parish; God has been good to me and with a sad and grateful heart I will say our good byes on July 27, 2014.
