Healthy Living
This column provides information about health

Recognizing that a person has had a stroke may save that person's life. Doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
1. S Ask the person to Smile.
2. T Ask the person to Talk and speak simple sentenced (coherently).
3. R ask the person to Raise both arms.
If the person has trouble with any one of these, call 911 Immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

Another sign a stroke is the tongue. Ask the person to stick out his/her tongue. If the tongue
is crooked, if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.
